This is the one that's been gettin all the airtime in my household. My son plays it a lot and he's developing some new chops as a result. I really love listening to it. I play it a lot too and any guest that comes over that plays didj gets it shoved into their hands right quick.
It's long dramatic shape gives it a hauntingly low fundamental. The lower backpressure asks for frequent refill from thee ol' diaphragm so that Strazzabosco style vocalized bouncebreath comes into play and gives birth to unworldly soundscapes. It's not a hard didge to play but it's better suited to experienced players.
The maple wood has plenty of figuring and fiddleback making gazing into the depth of the grain as wonderful of journey as playing or hearing it. It has a giant knot 1/3 of the way down similar to the stick the Wicked Tinkers have that they requested as brutally gorgeous. The knot is filled with a semi-clear epoxy giving it a crystal ball type appearance.
Whether you're witch, wizard, genie or average Joe this didge has something say, and you better heed it advice (or you might wake up as a frog!, or with a goat for a face! Not just a goat face but an entire goat as a face, and that would be weird).
