I've picked up a few nice traditional instruments over the years. Some of them are at a closed down gallery show in California until this Corona Virus pandemic is over I suppose. The two Djalu's that are still here are making it onto the site just in case someone with funds value them as much as I do. This instrument was one of the main performance sticks used by Ondrej Smeykal for many years. Browsing around on the internet you can find several photos and videos with him playing this exact stick. He was in the habit of leaving didges, clothes, sound gear, etc at my house so that when he fly's to the states for shows he doesn't have to carry much. Over time he's transformed his performances to now just use one stick throughout the show, a Madrone didge that I built for him under his guidance. Since then, I've eventually bought all his perfoming sticks that were here in order to help him through times of financial need, and now that I'm in that same boat I'm reluctantly putting this one up for sale. So this didge has a very distinguished provenance. The combined mojo of Djalu Gurruwiwi and Ondrej Smeykal. Can you handle it? Although the mouthpiece addition looks like Tweakerville, I've left Ondrej's typical kind of experimentation in tact. This is how he adapted it, and how he played it, so I left it exactly like that. The original mouthpiece is still there, Ondrej just taped one inch from another didge onto the end for whatever reason. Rather than pull it off I like keeping it's history intact. I'd also leave an original Jimi Hendrix guitar strung upside down. I don't think I necessarily have to say anything about it's playing character, it's history speaks to that. I'm uncertain as to whether there's any cracks under the tape on the top end, Ondrej often tapes them up just because he knows he'll be whackin' them with clapsticks. Amazing instrument, amazing history. If you buy it, you'll also have to let me come visit from time to time. AUM.
