DIDJ NUMBER - 706
As a crafter it's easy to get caught into always going for the opportunities to make things as fantastic and exaggerated as possible and every once in awhile I've got to rope myself back in and try to make a standard didgeridoo. This is that standard didgeridoo. The tuning is listed above as Eb but it's actually right between Eb and E. After many hundreds of instruments I've learned to tune them for balance and ability in the shaping process rather than in the finishing process and when I trim them afterwards to affect a perfect tuning I often find that even though the tuning is perfect that the balance I built it with is gone. I can nudge a tuning 10-20 cents higher with interior coats but anything more than that I prefer to just leave with it's natural balance as it's not actually all that frequent that didge players are so concerned with matching other instruments. It's a fantastic didge. Its gradual taper gives it a nice backpressure making it easy to play. It has good overblown response and bright vocal projection. At 6 1/2 pounds and 62 inches this is an ideal companion didge that can go everywhere with you and becomes so familiar that it's an extension of your self.
