It's very rare that I get the opportunity to craft with Yew. I consider it sacred. It's a very hard wood and so I keep the shapes more conservative in trying to coach out it's best tonality. The relatively higher pitch of an F can sometimes sound as if it's made of something brittle but the density of this Yew brings it right back down to Earth. It has an open spacious bore for articulate delivery which can be useful with beatbox styles of percussive playing. It's also a much more realistic size than most of my sticks. It's smaller in comparison and thus makes an easier travel mate. Not fragile either. It's got the right stuff for real adventure.
