DIDJ NUMBER - 429

Don't be fooled by the bell measurements to think that this didge has over the top bass response that would destroy the mid and high range frequencies. This gorgeous piece is very unique and really surprises me. The flare at the base it actually the collar of this thick old maple branch. Most of the pieces I craft are from the trunk. Branches grow in girth at a much slower rate and are therefore more dense with tighter grain, which tends to provide a deeper timbre and more supported sound. The bore is an odd oval like an oversized axe handle shape. I was skeptical of the oddness of the piece to work with but it had such a promise of beauty that I had to see it into reality. It is very lively, loud, and well balanced. A very high quality both sonicly and aestheticly.
